Potter County Commissioner - Precinct Three
Leon Church

Leon Church represents Precinct Three, which includes portions of Northwest Amarillo, Bushland, River Road, Pleasant Valley and Highland Park.  He represents all of the rural areas of Potter County.  His main focus of leadership is to develop a pride in Potter County with teamwork as a key to departments working together in order to deliver relevant services for the citizens of the county.  Fiscal responsibility is another high priority with the understanding that as our county grows and the demand for county services grows we must meet the basic needs of our community.  Those basic needs include law enforcement, detention and court systems, fire and rescue services plus the maintenance of our county road system.

Commissioner Church was raised on a diversified dairy farm in southern Idaho, one of ten children.  He is married to Sue and they have three grown children and six grandchildren.  He holds both a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Agriculture from the University of Idaho.  Commissioner Church is a retired County Extension Agent who served in three states during his 36-year career.

Mr. Church has served in several leadership roles in the community: Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce Ag Council Chair; City of Amarillo Traffic Commissioner, City of Amarillo Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee; Interfaith Campaign for the Homeless.  He has also served on the parish council at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral Church and Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center Advisory Board.
